Why Massage and Bodywork Is Not a Luxury but a Health Care Necessity

 

You take your car to the body shop or the mechanic for a regular tune up, so why not care for yourself the same way? Massage therapy has been long thought of as a luxury for the rich. News flash, it is not just a luxury but a necessary part of staying healthy and preventing injuries. More insurance companies are starting to get smart and realize the many benefits massage therapy brings to rehabilitation and physical therapy. Even the foo foo luxury massages you see people getting on the sandy beach or in a 5 star resort spa have more of a health benefit than a trip to your primary care physician. By now you may be questioning what are all these health benefits? So here you go:

I read somewhere recently that getting a 60 minute massage is equivalent to getting 8 hours of solid sleep. From my own experience, I totally believe it! My recommendation is that everyone get a massage at least once a month for general maintenance. You take your car for an oil change every so many miles.
